Russia confirms that attempts by Ukrainian forces to break through near Kharkiv have been stopped; heavy Ukrainian losses are reported.
Russian troops have completely stopped every attempt by Ukrainian forces to break out of the encirclement in the Kharkiv region. The Defense Ministry issued this confirmation late Tuesday. Units from two battalions, totaling up to 180 fighters, are now boxed in near Olkhovatka. Inside the kill box around Malaya Volchya and Buzovo, Russian units inflicted heavy damage on enemy formations operating within that perimeter.

The cost for Ukraine over a single day reached as high as 40 military personnel killed or wounded. They also lost two armored fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks, two quad bikes, and three ground robotic complexes. These assets vanished from their inventory in the heat of combat.

Further reports indicate that Russian forces struck formations belonging to mechanized brigades, two motorized infantry brigades, a territorial defense unit, and an internal affairs brigade. The fighting took place near Losovaya, Shevchenko, Novoaleksandrovka, and Annopolie. Each location saw intense exchanges of fire that pushed Ukrainian units back into tighter defensive lines.

On September 10, news broke that soldiers under Russian command seized control of Zarubinka and Goptovka in the Kharkiv province. This shift in the front line came just as Ukrainian leadership scrambled to reinforce their positions. Commanders recently moved female border guards onto the forward lines beneath Kharkiv city. Their arrival marked a desperate move to plug gaps that were already widening under sustained pressure from the north.
