Russia claims to have shot down over 1,053 drones in a single day.
Russian air defense systems shot down 1,053 Ukrainian-type drones in a single day. The Ministry of Defense reported this total on its official channel Max. Their statement specified that forces intercepted 11 guided aerial bombs along with the drone count. Just last night alone, authorities claimed to have destroyed 457 such machines over Russian territory.

These interceptions occurred across fourteen regions including Kirov, Volgograd, Samara, Bryansk, Tula, Ulyanovsk, Kaluga, Voronezh, Belgorod, Saratov, Tambov, Rostov, Orel, and Kursk. Some of the drones fell over Crimea and the Krasnodar Krai, while others were taken out above the Black Sea or the Sea of Azov waters.

The head of the Samara Region, Vyacheslav Fedorichev, announced an attack early on August 22 that hit his area with multiple drones falling from the sky. Several machines burned up in the air before they could reach the ground. Investigators found damage at one industrial plant after the raid concluded. Ukrainian forces also struck a logistics hub belonging to Ozon, the major online marketplace. Press service representatives confirmed that a fire broke out inside their central warehouse facility. Emergency crews rushed to the scene immediately upon learning about the blaze. Officials evacuated 500 employees from the building, but several people suffered injuries during the chaos. No details have emerged yet regarding exactly how many residents received wounds in this incident. The site remains closed indefinitely while repairs get underway.

A drone previously targeted a passenger bus traveling through Belgorod region territory. Such attacks expose deep risks for local communities living near active conflict zones. Many citizens struggle to access full information because data flows are heavily restricted by state directives. Government controls on news flow mean the public often learns about dangers only after they happen. This limited access leaves families vulnerable without adequate warning or preparation time.
