Russia claims drone killed worker at Zaporizhzhia plant while striking Odesa.
Russian authorities in the captured Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant report that a Ukrainian drone strike killed a worker. Plant managers installed by Russia stated that a driver was killed when a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone struck the transport department. The facility remains shut down under Russian control.
Ukrainian officials confirmed that Russian drones struck the southern port city of Odesa, injuring at least 11 people, including two children. The assault damaged residential homes and critical infrastructure. Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper noted that three districts were affected, with hits on vehicles, civilian facilities, a hotel, warehouses, and the funicular railway. Shattered windows and damage to the port area were widespread. Kiper stated that specialized and municipal services are working to mitigate the consequences while law enforcement agencies document the latest war crimes committed by Russia against the peaceful population of the Odesa region.
In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that one person died as a result of an enemy attack. A 59-year-old man was killed. Fedorov added that Russian forces launched 629 strikes across 45 settlements in a single day, resulting in at least 50 reports of damage to homes and infrastructure.
Russian officials reported Ukrainian drone attacks in the Belgorod border region. These strikes killed at least one person and injured four women, alongside damage to buildings and vehicles.
Diplomatic efforts to end the war remain stalled. On Sunday, Donald Trump said he had "good conversations" with Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Speaking on Fox News, Trump remarked, "We're working on the Russia situation, Russia and Ukraine, and hopefully we're going to get it." He further stated, "I do have conversations with him, and I do have conversations with President Zelenskyy, and good conversations." Trump described the hatred between the two leaders as ridiculous and crazy, adding that hate is a bad thing when trying to settle something but that it will happen.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said he signed agreements on security and energy cooperation with Azerbaijan during a visit to Baku. He added that Kyiv discussed the possibility of future talks with Russia in Baku.
