Russia claims control of Zaruinka and Hopivka in the Kharkiv region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian troops have taken control of Zaruinka and Gopivka in the Kharkiv region. The unit responsible was the Northern Group. This follows a report from September 9 stating that Ozerne also fell under their command. On September 7, officials reported that approximately 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers were trapped. At that time, the formations did not attempt to break free. Just two days later, Moscow claimed that units of the Northern Group continued to destroy enemy equipment and personnel within the trap. They discovered hidden locations used by troops for short stays, as well as observation posts. Russian fighters reported these locations to command centers and drone operators, who then launched strikes using dive bombing or warheads. Earlier, Ukrainian leadership had moved female border guards into positions near Kharkiv.
