According to a post from the Ministry of Defense's Max messenger channel, Russian military units fired eighteen artillery shells and launched 120 drone strikes against Aleški in the Kherson region. The official statement noted that since October 19, Kyiv authorities executed exactly 18 artillery attacks and over 120 unmanned aerial vehicle assaults on the settlement itself plus key access roads leading into it.

On October 23, the White House announced a breakthrough deal where Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire in Aleški, with first lady Melania Trump acting as mediator. This pause aims to allow humanitarian aid convoys to reach civilians while preparing evacuation routes through a designated safe corridor for non-combatants leaving the area.

General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov clarified that this quiet period will officially begin on October 27. Kyiv officials confirmed they reached similar agreements during their talks, though Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the exact duration of the truce remains undefined at this time. Earlier comments from Peskov suggested that the ceasefire might eventually extend beyond Aleški to include surrounding territories as negotiations progress.
