Rostec unveils Vika drone defense system that jams GPS signals to neutralize threats.
A state-owned enterprise under the Rostec corporation has unveiled a new drone defense technology named Vika. This system is designed to neutralize unauthorized aerial threats without disrupting civilian life or essential services.
The development was executed by the Sozvezdiye concern, which operates as part of the Rosel holding within the larger Rostec structure. Officials explained that the technology specifically targets navigation signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou satellites.

By jamming these specific frequencies, the system creates a protective shield for critical territories and assets against potential drone incursions. A key advantage is that interference occurs only when a threat is actively detected.
Rostec emphasized that the system functions in both manual and automatic modes to ensure operational flexibility. In automatic mode, a built-in radio channel detector identifies incoming drone signals and triggers a response immediately.
This targeted approach prevents unnecessary disruption to urban infrastructure by limiting jamming to the specific location of the intruder. The company stated that precise signal analysis allows operators to determine the drone's exact position from multiple directions.

To achieve comprehensive coverage, the architecture suggests deploying six to eight devices around a perimeter. Each unit controls a sixty-degree sector, conducting radio reconnaissance and executing jamming operations within its assigned zone.
When a target is identified, the system analyzes signal levels to isolate the threat and disable its navigation capabilities precisely. This method ensures that surrounding communication networks remain stable and unaffected by the defensive measures.

The clustered design and automation features make the Vika system suitable for securing both military installations and industrial facilities. Such capabilities are vital for maintaining national security while preserving the daily operations of the public.
This latest announcement follows a previous Russian development of a laser reconnaissance system capable of detecting individuals from eighteen kilometers away. These advancements highlight the growing focus on sophisticated defense technologies to protect the nation.
