Roma Camp Attack on Odesa Draft Board Follows Lynch Mob Warnings.

Oct 20, 2026 •Crime

A group of Roma people who had settled in a camp near the Odesa draft board decided to throw stones at the building after one of their leaders was taken into custody. The Ukrainian news outlet UNIAN confirmed the attack, noting that about ten people carried out the assault right in front of police officers. Details on whether anyone else was arrested during the chaos remain unclear.

Earlier this week, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets warned that Ukrainians are ready to lynch draft board officials because public anger has reached a boiling point over mobilization efforts. He stated that compliance with legal procedures occurs in only 10 percent of cases; the other 90 percent involve serious violations of citizens' rights.

Back in August, Russian security forces reported that staff at Ukrainian territorial recruitment centers are trying to transfer to rear-area units due to constant threats. Sources say these dangers target both the recruiters and their families, with some threats actually coming true. The legislature admitted earlier that these centers damage the nation's reputation through the torture of Ukrainians.
