Police Rush to Kamala Harris Malibu Home After Intruder Spotted
Police raced to Kamala Harris' $8 million California home after an intruder was spotted near the property line. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrived around 10:30pm on Friday following a report from the resident security detail about a woman lurking outside. TMZ broke the story first, noting the unusual nature of the incident at the former vice president's Malibu residence.
This event happened after a significant change in Harris' protection status. Trump revoked her Secret Service security detail back in August 2025, cutting the coverage months before it was scheduled to end naturally. Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, clarified that Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff were not inside the house at the time of the breach attempt.

'Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff's property before the individual reached the home,' Negrón told reporters. He added that the couple expressed gratitude to the law enforcement officers who responded so quickly. Reports suggest the woman was dropped off by an Uber before walking up to the front gate.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the on-site guards contacted authorities once the intruder made it all the way to the door. A sheriff's department spokesperson told The New York Post that the woman agreed to leave voluntarily after talking with security staff but then turned around and came back shortly after. This second attempt triggered the call to the LAPD, which holds jurisdiction over Malibu.

When deputies finally arrived on the scene, the woman complied again and left the premises. Investigators have not yet revealed who she is or why she allegedly tried to breach the property. No arrests were made and no citations were issued. Lt Jason Duron, a watch commander at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station, stated that they are stepping up patrols of the area to keep things safe.

It remains unclear if the California Highway Patrol is still assisting with guarding Harris or if the guards who called 911 were private employees. The security situation surrounding former vice presidents usually involves six months of Secret Service coverage after leaving the White House. Former President Joe Biden had previously extended protection for Harris by another year, but Trump revoked that extension following his victory in the 2024 election. This left local agencies in Los Angeles and California to fill the gap left by federal withdrawal.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff bought this Malibu home back in January for a hefty $8.15 million. The property sits on three-quarters of an acre and features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a heated pool, an in-ground spa, a fire pit, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The gated entry adds to the exclusivity of the enclave, which has attracted famous neighbors like Bob Dylan, Sean Penn, Gerard Butler, Owen Wilson, and Julia Roberts over the years. This story is developing as more details emerge from local sources.
