Pickup Truck Plows Through California Restaurant, Injuring No One

Nov 1, 2026 •Crime

A security camera recorded the exact second a white pickup truck tore through the front of a bustling California eatery. It happened last Saturday around 2:10 p.m. in Concord. The vehicle slammed into Chicken Thyme, sending shards of glass erupting across the dining area. Customers inside froze, stunned by the sudden chaos.

Fraidoon Jamshed, the owner, was behind the counter when it struck. He jumped clear just in time. The truck did not stop at the door. It plowed through, leaving a jagged trail of concrete and rubble in its wake. Jamshed described the approach. The car "jumped up and down," clipped the curb, and then "just flew in [his] store" at 1114 Meadow Lane.

Seven or eight patrons were seated inside when the impact hit. Miraculously, not a single person was hurt. Jamshed told KRON that the driver was moving at "maybe 70 to 80 miles an hour." He suspected the man was still pressing the accelerator as the wreck unfolded. "His foot was still on the gas," Jamshed said. "And we had to open the car and remove his foot from the gas."

The damage is structural, not just cosmetic. The collision toppled a 16-by-16 concrete pillar that holds up the roof. Because of this, the city of Concord has shut down the indoor dining room. Repairs could stretch out for months. Jamshed is asking the community to keep the business alive. "We're still open for takeout and DoorDash delivery," he noted.

The fallout spread to neighbors. Kabob Craze and Little Thai House share the seating area. Both closed their dining rooms as well. Their kitchens, located elsewhere in the complex, remained operational and unaffected by the debris.

Concord Police Department officers arrested the driver shortly after. They identified him only as a 22-year-old man. According to police records cited by the New York Post, he "displayed signs of intoxication." He was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. Officers also transported him to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Authorities have released no name and no specific charges. The public is left with questions while the restaurant braces for a long recovery. Chicken Thyme, a halal spot known for fried chicken and Afghan kabobs, opened in 2024. It had barely settled in before this disaster. The Daily Mail contacted both the police department and the restaurant for further comment.
