Phoenix Police Chase Ends After Driver Crashes Into Airport Plane
A wild high-speed police chase unfolded like a scene from Grand Theft Auto before it ended with a driver racing through an airport and crashing into an airplane. Officers with the Phoenix Police Department tried to stop a car connected to an illegal street racing group at 11 pm on Saturday, the Arizona Republic reported. The driver failed to stop, and police responded by following the car in a helicopter.
The pursuit dragged the vehicle into Scottsdale where it hit a locked security gate before stopping briefly. Officers cornered the car but the driver then suddenly reversed into one of the police vehicles. That collision did not end the madness. The car sped through another airport gate and drove onto the tarmac. The chase came to a stop only when the driver smashed into a plane inside a private hangar at the airport.

A man and a woman, later identified as Liberty Dawn Still, 33, and Michael Gregory Wall, 24, jumped out of the car and ran towards the tarmac. Wall was tased by officers after he resisted arrest. Both were later taken to jail and booked for multiple felony charges. The FBI is also investigating after they trespassed into the airport.

Sergeant Chris Berrelleza told FOX 10 that detectives were 'able to successfully launch a GPS tracking device onto the back bumper of that vehicle' before the pair were arrested. He said this allowed them to monitor where the car was heading safely during the ordeal. During the chase, an air traffic control audio recording captured a warning officers gave to pilots. 'It appears to be a police helicopter orbiting right over Scott's airport; there's a police chase that ended up on the airfield,' ATC Audio reported to the airline.
Airport operations were not affected by the chase. Phoenix Police Department sent a statement to The Daily Mail saying: 'Two people are in Phoenix Police custody stemming from an incident at Scottsdale Airport around 11:15 p.m. last night.' They added that Phoenix PD was attempting to stop a vehicle when the driver rammed through an access gate on the west side of the Scottsdale Airport and then briefly drove onto the tarmac area before crashing into a private hangar and into a plane inside, damaging both.

Phoenix officers were able to arrest the driver and passenger shortly after the collision. Scottsdale officers responded to assist Phoenix PD by securing the airport and taking reports for the damage to the gate, private hangar, and plane. Airport operations were not affected during the incident. The Daily Mail reached out to the Scottsdale Airport for further comment.
