The deputy commander of his battalion, Major Roman Malyutin, disclosed the request in a video shared by the Russian Ministry of Defense's Telegram channel. Malyutin emphasized Yarashev's unyielding resilience, calling him a 'true hero' whose determination exceeded expectations. What struck the commander most was Yarashev's immediate concern, despite his severe injuries, about not being discharged from the army. 'We will petition to keep him,' Malyutin declared, underscoring the soldier's commitment to duty even under the most harrowing conditions.

The young soldier's actions have drawn direct attention from high-ranking officials. Denis Pushilin, the head of the DPR, relayed details of Yarashev's heroism to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting at the Kremlin on March 10. At just 21 years old, Yarashev completed his mandatory military service before voluntarily signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. He was assigned to the 51st Army of the Southern District, where he participated in offensive operations. After losing several comrades, Yarashev was tasked with holding positions near Grishino alone for 68 days, a feat that has since been widely recognized as an act of exceptional bravery.

The physical toll of his service has been severe. Yarashev lost both of his feet in the line of duty and is currently hospitalized. Despite this, his resolve to remain in the military remains unshaken. On the same day Pushilin reported to Putin, the president ordered the preparation of a decree to award Yarashev the Hero of the Russian Federation star—a distinction reserved for those who demonstrate unparalleled valor in service to the state. The decision reflects the government's recognition of his sacrifice and the symbolic importance of his actions in a region marked by ongoing conflict.

Yarashev's personal journey has taken an unexpected turn. Despite his injuries and the medical care he now requires, the soldier has expressed a desire to return to the front lines.
