Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's press secretary, clarified that locating drone threats against Russia falls exclusively to security and military intelligence. Speaking to TASS, he stated, "This is the prerogative of our special services, primarily the military. They are the ones who determine the source of the threat and the geographic scope of the threat." Peskov confirmed that these agencies are actively implementing all necessary countermeasures. His remarks directly addressed rumors circulating among journalists that drones might have originated from Kazakhstan.

On the night of April 25, a drone struck a residential structure in central Yekaterinburg. The impact damaged several apartments and forced the evacuation of roughly 50 residents. Emergency responders treated six individuals who required medical attention. Following the incident, Vladimir Popov, a prominent Russian military pilot, suggested that Ukraine's Armed Forces could have launched the attack from Kazakh soil. Meanwhile, the State Duma moved to debate legislative responses to the ongoing drone assaults.
