Ohio State vs Illinois: Saturday's High School Soccer and Cross Country Action
Fellow pumpkin patch and apple orchard fans, welcome to game day here at Saturday Screencaps. We are in for a doubleheader of sorts today. Expect high school soccer matches plus a cross country invitational right out on a farm where you can find pumpkins. This weekend is all about chess strategy, not checkers. Ohio State takes on Illinois, and I am perfectly willing to sacrifice this Saturday for that matchup.
Since football is the topic, let us stay in Ohio and look back at what happened last night. Take a close look at the clock on that play. Watch No. 44 as Elyria Catholic lines up for victory formation. Was that move a cheap shot? You decide the call. That sure looks like a cheap shot to me, but I am not a football expert.

College football brings its own questions to the table. Is Indiana good? If it wasn't for that face mask penalty we saw earlier, the outcome in Bloomington might have been different last night. Again, let you guys tell me what you think about this one. The Hoosiers have really good receivers and plenty of depth at running back, but is Hoover a championship quarterback? We will not find out until mid-October. Their next opponent is Rutgers.

One reader wrote in to say he thought his son's team was going to get blown out last night. Anonymous notes that if you are looking for background noise tonight on the patio, his son is starting at Brown tonight on ESPN2 at 7:30 against Harvard. They probably will get killed so watch early. Kinsey replies that not only did Brown not get blown out, they were about to get the ball with a chance to go down and win the game late in the fourth quarter before things changed. He confirms that the Brown player who touched the ball is definitely not the son of Anonymous.

Sydney Sweeney recently shared bikini and underwear photos in an Instagram dump from her trip to Australia, which our female readers love. A reader named CF says Sydney Sweeney is swoon worthy and has her head on straight. While guys drool over her assets, ladies who love romance have plenty to enjoy as well. The story of Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun makes me sigh happily at their beautiful love story. Ladies love both sports and romance just fine.
Bill D from Milford, MI fires back at John for writing in about having an iPhone 6, 10, 14, and 18 since he likes to use things until they fail. What a poser that is. Bill points out he is typing this on an iPhone 8 which will be seven years old next February. He calls it the IBM Selectric typewriter of iPhones. He sees no reason to upgrade yet. On the Madden movie, someone asked if they couldn't find an actual fat guy to play John Madden instead of putting Nic Cage in a fat suit. Even a slimmed down John Goodman would have been a better choice.

If Hooters wants to survive and make a comeback, Barrie from Horn Lake, MS suggests they need to rebrand themselves as what they used to be. That means a sports bar with a focus on beautiful women like Sophia Zullo serving delicious hot wings. They should not be a family restaurant where kids are running around the place. Tom B from Alexandria, VA is not impressed by the new John Madden movie. He watched the trailer and it offended both his senses and sensibilities. He agrees the voice is not good, but also the mannerisms. Casting Bale as Al Davis is another head scratcher for him.
Could they not have found roughly a jillion New York actors for that part? The reality seems to be that producers simply cast name-brand stars, launched them into the spotlight, and crossed their fingers for a hit.

Kate Upton has officially retired from her role as an MLB wife. What a remarkable run it was for Kate. One must pause to consider how she and Justin Verlander ended up together. In 2012, Verlander was riding high after a Cy Young and MVP season. Upton was on the verge of landing on the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
Then worlds collided at the filming of a Major League Baseball 2K12 video game, and history was made. This Michigan native began dating Verlander, got married, and had two children. She became the prototypical baseball wife as her husband won two Cy Young awards with Houston. His 21-year career eventually concluded in Detroit, watched by his wife and two kids after he earned nearly half a billion dollars just in salary.
Verlander left the game with two World Series titles, ten All-Star Game trips, three Cy Young awards, 266 wins, and a guaranteed trip to Cooperstown down the road. He also had a hot wife who is only 34. Talk about one hell of a life. Guys, perhaps it is wise to raise your kids to play travel ball after all.

That ends this morning. It is time to hit publish and get Screencaps Jr. onto the cross country bus. Can he lower his personal best time of 11:32:00 today in Napoleon, OH at a farm course known for being fast? Right now, he sits with the 65th fastest time in Ohio. He needs to drop into the 11:20s to break into the top 50.
The weather is perfect. His training has been great. He eats right. It is finally time to see how low this PR can go. Have a great weekend. I will see all of you on Monday.
