NY Widow Sues Male Escort Over Alleged $6M Scam Scheme

Sep 16, 2026 •Crime

A wealthy widow from New York has filed suit against a male escort, alleging he tricked her into paying nearly $6 million so they could be together exclusively. Marianne Flippo, 49, kicked off legal proceedings in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday by suing Greggory Starr, 38, for allegedly exploiting her grief and poor health to swipe $5.95 million. The court documents describe a ruthless scheme where Starr took advantage of a woman who was both mourning and physically frail.

Flippo said she was dealing with strong opioids after surgery when Starr convinced her to pay his agency the money needed to free him from his contract. The two connected after she paid $27,000 for translation services during an Italy vacation in December 2024. What started as professional help turned into a relationship that grew intense quickly.

As feelings developed, Starr and his agent Bridget Collins told Flippo she had to shell out $10 million to let him leave escort work entirely. They pushed her toward an exit agreement costing $5.95 million while she was visiting Atlanta in February. The lawsuit claims they got her to drink alcohol before signing the papers. She said she was impaired by prescription meds and five drinks at that moment.

Her lawyer Larry Hutcher added that Flippo suffered from Stockholm syndrome and noted Starr held Svengali-like control over her actions. The suit paints a picture of a man manipulating a woman who had lost everything.

Chad Flippo died on August 5, 2024, after battling depression for years. He was the creator behind popular game Roblox and built a huge fortune before his passing left Marianne alone. His sudden death shattered her world and made coping nearly impossible. Her physical condition worsened by Ehler-Danlos syndrome, which weakens connective tissue and limits life expectancy to around 50 years old.

Flippo inherited a large sum of money when her husband passed away. The complaint argues that Starr targeted this inheritance while she was emotionally devastated. He used his position as an escort to gain her trust then demanded millions for what he called exclusive status.

Married women often face financial ruin after a spouse dies. This tragedy is now compounded by increased sensitivity to alcohol and medications. Four months after her husband passed away, Flippo planned a trip to Italy. She told authorities she was nervous about traveling internationally alone. A former colleague of Chad reached out to C4A on her behalf. The agency then paired the grieving widow with Starr, an Italian speaker who could assist during the journey.

Flippo stated she did not know C4A was an escort service at that moment. She hired Starr purely for assistance on her trip, according to the complaint filed in court documents. Greggory Starr, 38, operates as a New York City escort. A lawsuit now accuses him of manipulating Marianne Flippo into sending nearly $6 million in funds. His goal was to become her exclusive boyfriend. The two are pictured together at a party inside a New York City mansion in December 2025.

During the Italian trip, Starr had his own room. He made advances toward Marianne while she was still mourning Chad. She turned him down because of her grief, the lawsuit states. Flippo paid C4A $27,000 for Starr's services on this specific trip. Upon returning home, she did not have any contact with him until C4A began calling her.

The widow claims that C4A employees including Collins started contacting her directly. They told her that Starr missed her and wanted to talk to her. Flippo agreed to meet with him again. She sensed his vulnerability and knew of her wealth, so he began worming his way into her life. After Starr firmly had Marianne hooked, he convinced her to continue paying C4A to spend more time together. He then insisted she wire $150,000 so that he could date her exclusively. Flippo said she was swept up by his whirlwind of affection and agreed to this contract.

As their relationship developed, Starr further ingratiated himself into Marianne's life and psyche. The complaint alleges this process ultimately made her dependent on him. Meanwhile, Collins also wormed her way into Marianne's life and convinced her that they were friends. This was done in order to manipulate her, the complaint states. Flippo claimed that Starr began acting oddly in the summer of 2025. He admitted he had been seeing an ex-girlfriend during this time. She broke up with him on October 1 based on these revelations.

This should have ended the situation immediately. But C4A and Starr would not let Marianne and her money go, her complaint alleges. Collins and her assistant repeatedly contacted Flippo to try and convince her to meet with Starr again. The lawsuit claims they told her that Starr loved her and was sorry for his actions. They said he wanted to get back together with her. The Daily Mail has reached out to Starr for his side of the story. He did not return phone calls or messages in time for publication.

New York City escort Greggory Starr, 38, now faces a lawsuit from a widow who says he tricked her into sending nearly $6 million just to be his exclusive companion. The grieving woman argues that Starr wove a web of emotional manipulation designed to ensnare her and steal her funds. Her legal complaint states she was still vulnerable when she agreed to meet him in November 2025, only for the escort to allegedly force their reunion through these same manipulative tactics.

Starr moved into her apartment on December 1, 2025, asking her to sign another contract with C4A so they could be together full time. From that date until May 2026, she wired $368,000 to stay with him exclusively. In early 2026, Flippo traveled to Los Angeles for surgery and had to take strong drugs like gabapentin and codeine afterward. Combined with her Ehler-Danlos syndrome, this put her in a compromised mental state according to the filing. She also suffered from a severe arm infection requiring even more medication.

It was during this time of vulnerability that Starr told Flippo it would cost $10 million to free him from his contract and claimed she was his only way out of C4A. The pair traveled to Atlanta in February to visit his mother, but Collins and her assistant suddenly appeared claiming they were there to support the escort. They went for lunch together, and the complaint alleges they insisted Marianne drink alcoholic beverages. Starr and Collins knew about her medication and that she should not be drinking yet continued to pressure her.

Only after Flippo had several drinks did they reveal the $10 million Exit Agreement. The widow says the alcohol interacted with her condition to render her mentally incapacitated, allowing them to emotionally manipulate her into signing. Her lawsuit claims Marianne only signed because she was not in her right mind due to medication influence and tremendous coercive pressure. Flippo hired New York attorney Larry Hutcher after realizing Starr shamelessly exploited her during the lowest period of her life.

Her bank JP Morgan Chase recalled the $10 million transfer believing it was part of a scam, and Westpac blocked her card too. Starr insisted she open a Charles Schwab account to allow transfers, so she made a series of moves in May and June 2026 totaling $5.95 million. The filing requests voiding her Exit Agreement and demands that Starr and C4A return the money to Flippo.
