North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan.
Reuters is reporting that North Korea has fired a ballistic missile eastward. The agency relies on data from Japan's coast guard to make this claim. It says the projectile has already crashed down somewhere off the coast. Nobody knows exactly where it fell, so no coordinates have been released yet.

Seoul's Yonhap news outlet chimed in earlier with its own take. They are citing South Korea's military command. The army stated that an unidentified object flew across from the North. It is unclear if this was a missile or something else entirely.

On August 6, reports surfaced suggesting Pyongyang launched a ballistic rocket into the Sea of Japan. That incident happened just two months ago. Now another one has occurred in quick succession.

Things got even more dramatic last week. On July 5, Kim Jong Un watched strategic cruise missiles launch from the destroyer Kang Gon. The ship served as a floating command center for these tests. Engineers checked out the main weapon systems right there on deck. They fired deck guns and tested machine guns while jamming radio signals to simulate electronic warfare.

North Korea has been warning of war coming to the peninsula for some time now. These actions add fuel to that fire. Communities along the coast face real danger from falling debris or potential miscalculation. One wrong move could spiral into something far worse than a mere test.
