Newlyweds Ivan Kuznetsov and Angelina Nikolau Face Charges After Empire State Building Stunt
Ivan Kuznetsov and Angelina Nikolau showed off their flair for public spectacle on Monday inside a New York City courthouse. Cameras captured the newly wedded pair kissing as they left the building, an image that seemed to distract from the serious legal troubles awaiting them. Police officers say the couple climbed the Empire State Building last month while wearing masks and holding up signs. They now face charges including burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief for their actions at the top of the famous skyscraper in Manhattan.

The incident began when authorities spotted the duo scaling the structure without safety gear. NYPD bodycam footage later revealed officers ascending the tower to meet with suspects who appeared completely unharnessed high above the street below. No one was injured during the arrest, though the stunt drew immediate attention from law enforcement and news crews alike. The pair used this dramatic July 1 event to announce their engagement while overlooking the city from nearly 1,500 feet in the air. Kuznetsov proposed to Nikolau at that height, and she later displayed her sparkling ring during the climb.

Before appearing in court on Monday, Nikolau posted a message on Instagram reflecting on the nature of risk taking. She wrote, We believe that humanity has always been moved forward by those who refused to accept existing boundaries as final. Those who asked uncomfortable questions, took risks, and kept moving toward the impossible. The world without people like that would be much quieter. But we are not sure it would be better Whatever happens in court, she added, we will respect the process and accept the consequences of our choices. Following their brief court session, Nikolau told reporters that everything could be taken except their moment together. Their attorney did not offer any further comments when contacted by Fox News Digital. The case remains active until a hearing scheduled for September.
