New York Mayor Tied to Accused Antisemitic Outlet

Aug 26, 2026 •Politics

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stands under scrutiny regarding his ties to Uncivilized Media, a Qatar-based outlet accused of spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories. He sat down for an interview with the group in 2023. Fox News Digital tracked him on Instagram and found he still followed their account back on July 24, 2026. By July 27, 2026, that follower line had vanished. Clips from his appearance remain posted as collaborative content, showing up on both Mamdani's feed and the outlet's page.

The Anti-Defamation League warns that Uncivilized Media pushes dangerous narratives. Experts say the site accuses Jews and Israelis of seeking global domination while acting as colonialist controllers of the news. They pointed to a July 2026 video claiming Israel tries to "colonize the world." Oren Segal, senior vice president at the ADL for counter-extremism, told reporters that the channel routinely pushes classic tropes about Jewish people. He noted the interviews with Mamdani did not focus on these specific lies. Still, some Jewish New Yorkers wonder if the mayor agrees with other programming found there.

"When one appears on any platform, it kind of normalizes the rest of the content that is out there," Segal said during the interview. He clarified that neither he nor his agency claims Mamdani endorses every video posted by the group. The concern lies in how these connections make many residents question what else the mayor might believe.

Mamdani framed the Palestinian struggle as central to his identity during their Sept. 11, 2023 conversation. He argued that people claim to care about freedom and justice yet draw a hard line when Palestinians are involved. "We say we care about freedom and justice and self-determination and yet, for some reason, we draw a line when it comes to Palestinians," he stated. His background shaped this perspective, he explained. Growing up in the Third World gave him a different view of the conflict grounded in empathy and solidarity.

Mamdani moved to New York at age seven. He later said progressive views and Muslim beliefs share inherent unity. He identifies as a socialist rather than just a progressive. "What we also have now is a fight over what it means to be Muslim and what those Muslim values are," he told the outlet. He believes opponents try to frame these values against core progressive tenets. He rejected the idea that Muslims stand in opposition to queer rights, noting this attempt flattens out a community with history across hundreds of countries.

The resurfacing of Mamdani's appearance has sparked worry among Jewish New Yorkers who feel their relationship with City Hall is deteriorating. These residents ask if the mayor truly understands the gravity of antisemitic tropes circulating online. The question remains whether he draws that same line others do when it comes to freedom and justice for everyone.

David Segal wants Andrew Yang, or rather Mayor Eric Adams' administration to act, but he is directing his fire specifically at Zohran Mamdani. He believes the candidate could calm anxious New Yorkers by loudly rejecting the antisemitic conspiracy theories spread by Uncivilized Media.

"If Mayor Mamdani claims that he is building a better New York when there's many Jewish residents who consistently feel unheard, I think it's fair to ask him to clarify whether this program, that he has appeared on, represents his views on Israelis more broadly in terms of their content," Segal said.

This sharp increase in scrutiny follows Mamdani's comments last month regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a video where he stated he lacked the legal power to arrest the leader, the candidate went further than simple criticism. He accused Netanyahu of being "a war criminal" and "the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people."

The situation leaves many wondering what happens next for Jewish communities in the city. Their sense of safety seems to depend on how officials handle these charged accusations. Mamdani's office did not reply to Fox News Digital's request for comment. Neither did Uncivilized Media respond when asked for their side of the story.
