New files reveal teacher accused of abusing adopted sons posed for bedroom selfies
Disturbing new investigative files in the case against a teacher accused of abusing two of her adopted teenage sons can be revealed by the Daily Mail, including her bedroom selfies and troubling internet searches. Amber Swain, 35, was charged with incest earlier this year after her husband reported his suspicions to police about the alleged trysts with the 17 and 18-year-old boys. Swain, a mother-of-six, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due to stand trial in October.
But as she waits to face court, the Daily Mail has obtained new police files that detail how Swain had allegedly posed for topless selfies and was even snapped in bed with her 17-year-old son. We have chosen not to publish some of the most graphic images, which were obtained via a public records request. A forensic analysis of Swain's phone in the wake of her arrest also allegedly uncovered photos of her sitting on the younger teen's lap as he kissed her cheek.

In police interviews, the 17-year-old alleged to officers that his adopted mother had traded naked pictures with him, the records show. Screenshots of Swain's text messages, which were obtained by cops, also paint a fuller picture of her alleged relationship with the boy - including exchanges where they spoke of sharing the same bed. In March this year, the boy asked Swain if he could stay the night and sleep in her bed, the screenshots show.
When the boy pushed back asking 'why not all night', Swain replied: 'Because of what happened last time you slept with me.' The boy then wrote back insisting 'nothing happened' and 'just one more chance.' 'I wanna cuddle,' he later added, according to copies of their messages. Swain allegedly then responded: 'I wondered. I can't though [name]. I'm your mom. I don't feel that towards you.' After the boy begged 'just once', Swain allegedly replied: 'No [name]. I love you so much.

Nothing like that is ever going to happen.' These words ring hollow now, given the disturbing twists emerging in Swain's case. A police report included in the files claims her online search history secretly logged queries for 'forbidden love psychology' and 'missing someone intensely' just four months after she adopted the boy in question. That timeline sets off alarm bells immediately.
When officers finally arrested her over alleged abuse, Swain told an officer that 'some of this is true, but a lot of it isn't.' During the interview, she sat in silence for 25 seconds when confronted about the relationship. Screenshots of text messages paint a fuller picture, showing conversations where they spoke of sleeping in the same bed.

'I don't know how to talk about that,' she reportedly said before admitting to 'fighting the attraction.' A note found on her phone from March 2026 read: '[Victim] being inappropriate with me.' Investigators also uncovered ChatGPT conversations where Swain described someone blocking her after being 'inappropriate,' echoing the content of that physical note.
The boy's account to investigators stated they verbally confirmed wanting to proceed before their first sexual encounter unfolded. He told police Swain took her own clothes off. To investigators, he described the relationship as 'fine, good' and insisted it 'doesn't feel wrong.' Meanwhile, Swain claimed she tried to report that a second adopted son sexually assaulted her, but officials said they could not corroborate that allegation. She later conceded she had not given police 'the full truth' about that incident.
Various snaps on her phone show her sitting on the boy's lap and receiving a kiss on the cheek from him. 'I didn't tell anybody,' she claimed, citing a lack of trust in systems. At one point during questioning, Swain asked investigators how public the case would become. When a detective noted that telling the truth would help her, she pressed back: 'Is that just a line or is it real?'

Swain's arrest came after her estranged husband, Daniel, reported her to Washington's Department of Children Youth and Families on May 18. He was already separated from her at the time but also handed police the text messages that helped build the case against her. Swain worked as a teacher and had previously served as executive director of Spokane Angels, a nonprofit supporting children in the foster care system.
She adopted one of the boys after meeting him as a struggling third-grader in her classroom in 2017. 'Throughout the year, I just grew to love him,' she said in a Facebook video posted before her arrest, encouraging others to consider fostering and adoption. 'I saw his resilience, his potential and just grew to love him. He really inspired my husband and I to start fostering.' She and Daniel went on to care for that boy and his brother before they began fostering a third boy. The tragedy lies in how quickly the dynamic shifted from inspiration to exploitation, leaving communities to grapple with the reality that trusted systems failed to catch these signals sooner.

Amber Swain, a 35-year-old mother from Washington who has three biological children and three she raised through adoption, found herself at the center of a storm after her estranged husband, Daniel, filed a report with the state's Department of Children, Youth and Families. He flagged his suspicions in June, leading to her arrest on June 2. The pair welcomed all three adopted boys into their home back in November 2019.
During the investigation that followed, one of the seventeen-year-old adopted sons told detectives he had been having sex with Swain since December of the previous year. He said it happened many times, and the most recent instance occurred just two days before investigators spoke to him. When confronted with this timeline in the police report, Swain admitted she might have her dates mixed up but offered no further explanation.

A second adopted son provided a chilling account of how he became suspicious. He found his brother's underwear on the bedroom floor and later caught Swain locked inside their shared room. The boy described falling asleep in her bed after drinking, only to wake up and see her climbing in beside him. While they had always cuddled since he was young, that night felt different.
'Things got handsy, that's all I'm going to say,' he told investigators. 'It's just something that I thought I'd never do, with my mother obviously.' He added, 'Yeah, it's gross to think about.' Another boy expressed similar disgust, saying he was disgusted with himself more than anything else when the allegations came out. When asked if an affair was going on, his reaction was one of shock: 'Holy s***. That's weird. Obviously she shouldn't be doing that at all since she's known him since the third grade.'

Swain faced a spate of charges including incest in the first degree, incest in the second degree, and sexual misconduct with a minor in the first degree. All three counts are designated domestic violence offenses. If convicted on the most serious charge, she faces up to ten years in prison. She has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to face trial in October.
Search warrants for her Google account were issued in July as the investigation continues. In the wake of the arrest, Swain was placed on administrative leave from Pend Oreille River School, which serves as Newport School District's alternative high school. She has also filed for divorce. A lawyer representing Swain did not respond to requests for comment from the Daily Mail. The details revealed in the new dossier against this teacher mom include sickening bed selfies, twisted text messages, and Google searches about forbidden love that paint a disturbing picture of what went on behind closed doors.
