New Beats 360 Headphones Feature Swappable Cushions for Easy Cleaning

Sep 22, 2026 •Lifestyle

Imagine finishing an intense workout at the gym, drenched in sweat. Now picture taking a quick shower and realizing you still have to wear those same damp headphones. It is frustrating, but that cycle might finally end thanks to a new pair of Beats 360 headphones.

These Apple-owned devices feature cushions that users can swap out in just seconds. The goal is simple: let the pads dry or get cleaned while you finish your shower routine. You do not need to wipe them down constantly or lug around a second set just for gym days.

Oliver Schusser, who serves as Apple's vice president of Music, Sports and Beats, highlighted this design choice. He stated that they combined their most advanced acoustic performance ever with a perfectly balanced design that moves effortlessly with you. The quote continues by noting the new interchangeable cushions allow customers to express themselves in a way no other over-ear headphones can.

Priced at £299.95, these headphones come with a selection of ear cups and headband cushions available for purchase alongside the main unit. Swapping them is quick enough that you might forget it even happened until you look down. This flexibility could change how people approach their fitness gear forever.

The routine of scrubbing down your headphones or hauling a spare pair might finally be history. Beats has just dropped an innovation that changes the game after two decades in the business and Apple's acquisition in 2014. The new Beats 360 mark the first truly customizable set released by either tech giant.

These units come in four core colors: Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky. Each arrives with matching knit ear cups and headband cushions to fit that specific look. But the real twist lies in what else you can buy. Beats is selling extra cushion kits in six colors, Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy, and Volt, and offering two fabric choices: knit and UltraPlush.

The knit pads use memory foam wrapped in breathable material. The UltraPlush versions feature leather. You get to swap these parts based on your mood, activity level, or even the outfit you are wearing right now. Imagine grabbing vibrant Volt knit cups for a sweaty gym session where heat builds up quickly. Once you leave the facility and cool down, switch those out for the subtle Cloud UltraPlush set instead.

Sound quality remains the priority for any headphone user, so Beats 360 received everything thrown at them to deliver top performance. As stated by the company: 'Built around a bespoke acoustic platform, Beats 360 combine an all–new acoustic architecture with custom–designed drivers developed exclusively for these headphones.' Sensitive three-layer diaphragms and dual neodymium magnets in each driver create powerful bass and incredible precision across the tonal range with ultra-low distortion. This setup reveals greater detail and depth on every track you play.

Active Noise Cancellation also got an upgrade. Users can choose to block all external sounds, hear their surroundings clearly, or stick with Adaptive mode that adjusts automatically. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate that these units handle sweat and water well enough to withstand rain and heat exposure without issues.

Controls sit easily on the back of each ear cup for quick access. The right side holds a volume rocker and a play/pause button. The left side features a power button plus a dedicated listening mode switch. Charging anxiety plagues many wireless headphone owners, but Beats promises you do not need to carry a charger everywhere anymore.

The Beats 360 offer up to 32 hours of battery life. There is also a 'Fast Fuel' option that gives one hour of playback with just a five-minute charge. Regarding the price tag, the Beats 360 cost £299.95. Cushion Kits are available at an introductory offer of £9.99.

You can place orders online starting today. Stores will stock the new models beginning on 24 September.
