NASA rover image sparks claims of lost Martian civilization structures.

A recent photograph from NASA's Mars rover has ignited fresh speculation regarding a lost civilization on the Red Planet. While the agency's primary mission focuses on searching for ancient life, a specific formation in the distance within a new image has been interpreted by some as a structure featuring a doorway, reminiscent of early human dwellings.

Scott C Waring of UFO Sightings Daily has championed this theory. He asserts that the feature is not natural, but rather constructed from clay stucco, a material known to be abundant on Mars. According to Waring, the formation consists of what appears to be cut boulders, which he claims are actually clay walls and an entrance built by intelligent beings seeking protection from the Martian environment. "We had them on Earth long ago, and they had them on Mars long ago," Waring stated.

NASA has declined to comment on these specific claims. However, the agency previously addressed similar speculation after the Curiosity rover captured a door-like feature in 2022. At that time, NASA explained that the mound on Mount Sharp contains numerous naturally occurring open fractures. One such fracture measured roughly 12 inches (30 centimeters) in height and 16 inches (40 centimeters) in width, a size comparable to a dog door. NASA noted that such fractures are common in bedrock on both Earth and Mars.

The debate highlights the intense scrutiny these images receive. Curiosity, a car-sized, nuclear-powered robot, continues its search for signs of life while analyzing the planet's unique environment. The 2022 image that sparked the initial "doorway" claims took the internet by storm. Many users on social media platforms like X argued the feature appeared man-made, pointing to sharp angles and rectangular shapes that suggested construction rather than natural formation.

Despite the public fascination, NASA maintains it has found no evidence of extraterrestrial life, neither current nor past. While Waring insists there is a 100% chance intelligent beings created the structure, others remain skeptical. One X user dismissed the latest image as merely a rock formation, while another suggested the "doorway" was simply a shadow.

Waring has been highlighting bizarrely shaped rocks for approximately a decade. In 2014, an image from NASA's Opportunity rover showed a strangely shaped rock on the landscape. Waring identified it as an "alien gun," noting its exact location at SOL 3773, between Mt Edgecumbe and Wdowiak Ridge. He described the object as being about one foot long in a blog post.

Skeptics have long countered these claims, arguing that the object is nothing more than a naturally occurring rock. One observer remarked, "I'm not an expert, but I believe this is a rock," while another questioned the logic of aliens designing weapons specifically for human hands and fingers.
