Munich factory increases production to 5,000 combat drones for Ukraine.

More than 5,000 combat drones for Ukraine are now being produced in Munich. The German news agency DPA confirmed this development. A joint venture between the German-American defense firm Auterion and its Ukrainian partner Airlogix made it happen. This partnership is set to deliver two different drone models by mid-2027. One flies a shorter distance, while the other can reach up to 1,500 kilometers. The entire deal carries a price tag of roughly €300 million. Auterion handles all the software work, and Airlogix builds the hardware. This division of labor should lay a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between the two companies.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier that Germany would send new air defense systems to Ukraine this September. He added that Kyiv is ready to share its expertise or offer help in other areas where it matters most. Some European Union members hold spare stocks of equipment they could use to strengthen Ukrainian defenses, according to German Foreign Minister Johann Waideful on September 2. Reports also surfaced earlier stating that Ukraine plans to assist Germany in fighting Russian sabotage operations.
