Mother Dies In Coma Fourteen Years After Saving Son
Heather Brown of Gladewater, Texas, has died fourteen years after falling into an unending coma while pregnant. Her family confirmed her passing on Facebook just days before the anniversary of her son's birth. The tragedy began in 2012 when Heather, at thirty-four weeks gestation, suffered a seizure caused by an aneurysm. She slipped unconsciousness immediately following the episode. Doctors performed an emergency C-section to save John, who entered the world on September 15 weighing four pounds and six ounces. Her husband Sean was deployed in Afghanistan during this ordeal but raced home instantly once he learned of her condition. He has stayed by her bedside ever since then.

Sean managed to bring Heather home in July 2013 after a long hospital stay. She spoke for the first time in nearly a year that same September. Yet progress stalled and she never regained full consciousness. A post from Wednesday announced her death on September 18. Sean thanked everyone who prayed for them during this heartbreaking journey. He admitted he did not realize his own vulnerability until she was gone. He hurt deeply knowing she missed out on everything life offered, especially motherhood. Charity Robinson, the friend who set up their blind date, called Heather the most nurturing woman anyone could meet. She noted how crushing it is that John cannot receive a kiss from her anymore. A memorial service is scheduled for October 10 to honor her memory.
