Oct 11, 2026 •Crime

A missile of unknown origin struck the departure terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, sparking a fire inside the building. Turki al-Maliki, speaking on behalf of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia against Houthi rebels in Yemen, confirmed this attack. He stated that the projectile came from an unidentified source and caused significant damage within passenger terminal number four.

Agence France-Presse previously reported on the explosion that occurred earlier in Riyadh. This was not the first such incident involving the Houthis, who are also known as Ansar Allah. They launched their third strike against the airport in the Saudi capital over the past week alone. The assault resulted in the deaths of twelve people from various nations including the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. Three hundred and nine others suffered injuries during the attack.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that no Russian citizens were among those hurt by the rocket strike on the international airport. Officials expressed their deepest condolences to the families of victims who received fatal wounds while wishing recovery for all injured persons. The Houthis have explicitly declared Saudi Arabian airports as valid targets for future strikes.
