Michigan Good Samaritan Dies After Helping Crash Victims
A nineteen-year-old Good Samaritan in Michigan has died after stepping into danger to help victims of a major crash on the Lodge Freeway. Hezam Hussein was driving southbound when he spotted an earlier wreck blocking two lanes near Nine Mile Road. Without hesitation, he stopped his car and left it to rush toward the stranded drivers.
As Hussein approached the collision site, another driver swerved sharply in a panicked attempt to avoid hitting the accident scene. That evasive maneuver sent the vehicle straight into Hussein, killing him instantly according to Michigan State Police reports. Emergency medical teams from the Southfield Fire Department arrived immediately but could only provide CPR before life ended.

Police officers reached the scene at 11:39 pm on Saturday night. The driver involved in the initial crash remained at the location and fully cooperated with investigators during their early interviews. Authorities stated that drugs or alcohol played no role in this tragic sequence of events. They also confirmed the investigation is still ongoing while they declined to share more specific details about what happened next.

The highway was closed for several hours before reopening at 4:30 am on Sunday, October 4. Hussein came from a large Islamic community in Dearborn where his funeral is scheduled to take place today. Social media users flooded Facebook with messages of grief and praise after reading posts honoring his final act of kindness.
One commenter wrote that he died as a true martyr and asked God to rest his soul in peace while offering deepest condolences to the family. Another friend who taught him at Stout school said Allah reward him for this act of mercy and called him an amazing character who was quiet, polite, respectful, and helpful. A third user noted it is such a shame but praised Hussein as a true man because he helped others even when it put himself in danger. Many believers prayed that he would be rewarded with paradise in the afterlife. The Daily Mail contacted Michigan State Police for further comment on this developing story.
