Mets First Baseman Jared Young Carted Off After Collision
New York Mets first baseman Jared Young was carted off the field Thursday night after a terrifying collision with teammate Nolan McLean during the game against the Phillies at Citi Field. The incident happened in the top of the sixth inning when Justin Crawford of the Phillies grounded a slow roller up the first-base line. Both Young and McLean, the Mets' starting pitcher, converged to field the ball.

As Young dove toward the grounder, McLean attempted to jump over his teammate. McLean's knee made contact with what appeared to be the side of Young's head during the play, sending Young face-down into the dirt. He lay there without moving for several moments while medical staff from the Mets dugout rushed onto the field to treat the 31-year-old infielder.

Trainers stabilized Young's neck and evaluated him on the field before placing him on a stretcher. Young offered a positive sign to the Citi Field crowd as he was driven off, raising his thumb to give a thumbs-up while fans responded with a supportive ovation. Mark Vientos replaced Young at first base when play resumed.

The Mets have not yet released an official medical update regarding Young's status. The team is expected to provide further details following complete hospital evaluations and concussion testing.
