Meta Unveils 'Evil Tamagotchi' Muse Charm AI Gadget

Sep 24, 2026 •News

Meta has dropped a new gadget, and fans are already calling it an evil Tamagotchi. The futuristic device, named Muse Charm, appeared at the end of last night's Meta Connect event. Mark Zuckerberg, the company's CEO, stood before the crowd to reveal it. This small unit fits easily in the palm of your hand yet lets you tap into Meta's Muse AI without needing a phone or computer nearby.

'It fits on a keychain and is always available to talk to,' Mr Zuckerberg explained during the presentation. You simply tap the fingerprint sensor located in the corner, and conversation begins instantly. There is no need to unlock a device or hunt for an app icon first. While details remain scarce right now, social media users are quick to compare this object to the classic virtual pet. One user tweeted that nobody will ever be in a spot without a phone and then wish they had this surveillance state Tamagotchi with them. Another agreed that evil Tamagotchi is genuinely the best description anyone has seen so far.

The Meta Connect event largely focused on Muse, which serves as Meta's personal AI agent. Mr Zuckerberg initially stated that Muse would appear on Meta's AI glasses first. From those lenses, you can ask Muse to guide your personalized workout or log meals for you. It can get nutrition insights on demand and even help buy products you see in a store. Ask Muse to book an appointment or check flight prices while driving, cooking, or running mid-stride. You do not need to pull out your phone for these tasks. You can activate Muse by saying its name aloud and telling it your request directly. The system works in the background until the task is complete.

However, right at the end of the event, Mr Zuckerberg announced that Muse would also run on the brand-new Muse Charm device. 'We've packed a lot of technology into this little guy,' he said while holding it up for everyone to see. If you are not wearing glasses, this becomes by far the fastest way to talk to your Muse and show it what is happening around you. Based on the limited photos released, we know the device features a small screen displaying your chosen Muse avatar. There is also that fingerprint sensor in the corner designed to summon the AI when pressed.

'We've actually only built a few of these so far, and it's been absolutely joyful to play with,' Mr Zuckerberg admitted. They still need to finalize the finishing materials and lay out the components properly. But they are planning to have this ready to ship by December in time for the holidays. He thinks people are going to love this new gadget. Across social media, the response has been mixed with many applauding Meta's innovation. One fan called it the smartest use of AI yet while another asked if this is what disrupts Apple. Meanwhile, one joked that since they were addicted to Tamagotchis as a kid, they will likely be addicted to the Muse Charm now that they are adults.

Others remain less convinced about the utility of such a product. One skeptic questioned who would use this over a phone or an Apple Watch. They really do not understand the target demographic unless it is middle school students trying to look cool with the latest tech. This looks like joke software bundled in useless e-waste according to that viewer. Another writer shook their head and noted we have officially reached a stage where your phone is no longer needed to have an AI assistant.

At this pace, artificial intelligence will soon be trailing us down the street." That ominous warning came in a tweet declaring the situation feels like an episode of Black Mirror. The Daily Mail reached out to Meta directly seeking answers about their new charging plans. We are waiting for a response that explains exactly how much users might have to pay.
