Man Confesses To Strangling Ex And Leaving Head In Suitcase
Damon Foy, fifty years old, has confessed to strangling his ex-girlfriend Alberta Dale and dismantling her body just days after she ended their relationship in early April 2024. The horror deepened when investigators found the severed head of the forty-four-year-old woman resting inside a carry-on suitcase alongside a flower, kept as a twisted memento in his Kerhonkson apartment. Police say this occurred sometime between March 31 and April 1 after Dale filed for protection due to their violent history. Her family grew alarmed when she went silent on April 1, prompting them to request a welfare check at his place because they knew about the abuse. Officers arrived that day and saw her car parked outside but found no sign of the woman inside. Foy claimed she had left in a rideshare service to avoid paying for gas or repairs, even though he admitted he was there only when she wasn't present because of the restraining order. The next morning, someone spotted her phone on the street and handed it over to detectives who quickly linked it to the missing victim. An assistant district attorney noted that Dale had previously told a staff member at the Ulster County Crime Victims Assistance Program if she vanished, it was because Foy killed her. Armed officers returned to the apartment on April 2 with permission from Foy, who was already intoxicated and continued drinking while they searched for evidence. They found an open bottle of bleach on the counter and a bucket holding a brand-new mop in the corner of the room. Inside one bedroom, the bathroom appeared immaculately clean while a bag filled with rubber gloves sat in the master suite. Foy stood near a closet when an officer asked him to move so they could search through it, at which point he claimed he loved the girl and said he needed to call a lawyer immediately. He pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder as prosecutors dropped the remaining charges including aggravated criminal contempt and concealment of a human corpse. Now he faces up to twenty-five years or life in prison under state guidelines but his plea deal secured him a sentence between twenty-three years and life. His sentencing hearing is set for December 16 after he admitted to keeping her head in that suitcase with the flower inside while disposing of the rest elsewhere.

Police found a suitcase inside the home that felt unnaturally heavy for its size. A deputy shined a flashlight on it and spotted what looked like dried blood. When officers asked Foy about the stain, he got defensive and held up his hands with a strange remark: "See, no defensive wounds."

A detective then asked Foy if Dale was inside that bag. His reply was immediate and sharp: "Are you out of your mind?" Officers stayed at the residence while they waited for a warrant to search the luggage. During that tense wait, Foy leaned close to one detective and whispered: "I killed her. She's in there, I killed her."

Once police secured the warrant and opened the suitcase, they discovered Dale's severed head inside. The rest of her body was gone. A flower also lay within the bag. When a detective questioned Foy while he was in custody the next day, she asked why he had put that flower in there. The murderer said: "I loved that girl" and explained he was trying to figure out "what still happened last night to take s*** over the top.
