Man Accused Of Reckless Driving Endangers Officers Before Arrest On Beach
A man accused of reckless driving put San Diego police officers in danger Sunday morning before his wild chase ended on a crowded beach. Witnesses say they watched stunned as officers moved in to take Griffin Charles Foy into custody near the water's edge.

The chaos started just before 7:30 a.m. when the San Diego Police Department got multiple calls from people reporting erratic behavior in Pacific Beach. A tan or gold Nissan Frontier was reportedly doing donuts in parking lots and nearly hitting other cars while possibly smashing curbs and a retaining wall. Witnesses told Fox News Digital that the driver showed no regard for safety as he tore through the neighborhood.
Officers arrived quickly but found themselves chasing a fleeing suspect heading west toward the ocean after an attempted traffic stop failed. The first pursuit ended because of what police called the driver's increasing wanton disregard for public safety. Later, authorities located the truck again only to find it failing to yield once more, sparking another chase that also had to be terminated.

By this point the Nissan was a felony suspect wanted for evading with wanton disregard for safety. The department saturated the area in an effort to locate the vehicle while officers held off on another stop until their ABLE helicopter got overhead and began tracking it from above.

Video footage captured the dramatic moment the pickup drove onto the sand and headed toward the water. Stunned beachgoers watched as deputies converged on the scene. The 25-year-old driver stood outside his truck with hands raised while officers approached to detain him. A police K-9 unit was present but did not deploy during Foy's arrest according to officials.
Police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop because of the serious alleged violations and the clear disregard for public safety displayed by the suspect. Foy was taken into custody without further incident despite the chaotic nature of the pursuit that lasted until he reached the shoreline. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on felony charges including evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, obstructing or resisting an officer, and driving under the influence of drugs.

No one was injured during the entire ordeal even though hundreds watched in disbelief as law enforcement closed in on the suspect near the Pacific Ocean beach. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly dangerous situations can unfold when drivers choose to flee rather than cooperate with police directives affecting community safety.
