Louisiana Residents Blame New Facility for Sickening Vibrations and Noise

Sep 24, 2026 •US News

Terrified residents in a small Louisiana town claim their lives are being ruined by mysterious sounds and vibrations that damage homes and make people sick.

People in Iberville Parish say loud rumblings started after VLS Environmental Solutions set up a facility on the Mississippi River across from Plaquemine Point about two years ago. This waste management company belongs to I Squared Capital, a private equity firm based in Miami, Florida.

The Sunshine Facility opened in 2022 to offer full-service barge cleaning and repair along the river. Yet operations there emit disruptive low-frequency sounds that disturb sleep according to parish council meeting minutes. One local resident named Kyte Aymond described how the noise pierces your head without being loud outside, but becomes intense right on the porch. Another person, Les Ann Kirkland, noted her hundred-year-old solid house never shook until those people arrived nearby.

Rebecca says vibrations cracked her driveway while parish officials held a meeting in January to address growing complaints. A recent study conducted by the town found nothing out of the ordinary despite these serious allegations. Iberville Parish Executive Director of Economic Development John Clark told the council that no events were recorded with low-frequency sound capable of causing rumbling or shaking structures.

The investigation used multiple devices designed to measure intensity but one malfunctioned and displayed a blank data card at the end of the period between May 22 and July 13. The cause of this technical issue remains unclear though Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site served as one measurement spot during the testing phase.

Residents expressed deep skepticism about these findings with Roxanne Traigle telling reporters she does not think they hired the right kind of people or used proper equipment for such a critical study. She lives near the river where her home sits directly downwind and downriver from the industrial operations causing so much distress to neighbors on the opposite bank.

The parish remains open to conducting further tests if more evidence suggests hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface of that quiet town.
