Lesbian Couple Files Negligence Lawsuit Against Las Vegas Casino, Alleging Forced Removal and Security Assault

A lesbian couple alleges they were forcibly removed from a Las Vegas casino after expressing affection at its bar, according to a negligence lawsuit filed on Tuesday. Brianne Garcia and Lelannie Dominguez, both California residents, claim security personnel assaulted them during the incident. The legal action was submitted in Clark County District Court against The Strat Hotel & Casino, which operates on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.

The couple's account states they were engaged in an affectionate interaction at a bar within the hotel complex on May 3, 2024. A waitress allegedly approached them and demanded they cease their behavior, citing it as 'too affectionate.' The lawsuit does not specify which of the five bars or nine restaurants was involved but notes the venue's proximity to Nevada's tallest observation tower.

The Strat is a prominent destination for tourists, offering accommodations starting at $75 per night. It also houses an 80,000-square-foot casino. According to the lawsuit, the couple felt targeted due to their sexual orientation and questioned the waitress about their treatment. A manager reportedly intervened shortly afterward, ordering them to leave the premises.

During their removal, Garcia and Dominguez allege a security guard used excessive force. The court document states they were 'physically battered' during an altercation that left both women with injuries described as 'serious,' some of which may be permanent or disabling. They claim emotional distress compounded the physical harm sustained.

The lawsuit accuses The Strat's management of failing to train employees adequately and allowing security staff to deploy unreasonable force. It further argues that the couple was discriminated against based on their gender identity and sexual orientation. Legal representatives seek damages exceeding $15,000, covering medical bills and lost wages, which will be determined at trial.

Golden Entertainment, The Strat's operator, faces financial strain. Public filings reveal a fourth-quarter revenue decline of $8.6 million in 2025 compared to the prior year, totaling $155.6 million for the quarter. The company reported an annual net loss of $6 million and has announced plans to sell its operating assets to VICI Properties Inc.

Assets up for sale include The Strat itself, along with resorts such as Aquarius and Edgewater in Laughlin, Nevada, and two Arizona Charlie's casinos. Golden Entertainment previously confirmed the transfer of ownership for The Strat but has not yet responded publicly to the lawsuit or allegations made by Garcia and Dominguez.
