Las Vegas Tourist Wins $5.7M Against Taxi Driver For Trunk Injury

Oct 21, 2026 •Crime

A Las Vegas tourist walked away with nearly $6 million after a taxi driver slammed the trunk lid onto her head while she was retrieving luggage. The incident occurred on April 14, 2024, during a weekend getaway in Sin City. Lindy Moore of California was standing by the vehicle when Stanislaw Solowiej, the cab driver for YCS Checker LLC Operations Series, closed the trunk without warning and left her with severe injuries. A complaint filed in August 2024 within Clark County District Court details how this accident altered her life forever.

Moore suffered a traumatic brain injury that demanded extensive medical treatment and disrupted every aspect of her daily existence. An eight-person jury heard the case last Friday and unanimously agreed to award Moore approximately $5.7 million for the harm she endured. John Morgan, founder of the law firm representing her, stated that his client arrived in Las Vegas expecting relaxation but departed with an injury that has eroded her quality of life ever since. Amber King, another attorney on the team, echoed these sentiments in a recent statement sent to reporters.

Living with persistent migraines and the uncertainty surrounding a traumatic brain injury feels destabilizing for anyone who must explain their condition to skeptical observers. The jury was told not just about medical records but also how this event devastated Moore and her family over time. She originally sought $15,000 in general damages plus special damages related to her specific losses. Lawyers for the cab company challenged her medical bills and disputed the severity of her condition throughout the yearslong legal battle. The jury rejected those arguments entirely and sided with Moore instead.

The lawsuit alleged that the cab company operated its vehicles negligently by allowing such dangerous situations to happen on public roads. It further accused them of being negligent in hiring and training Solowiej, the driver who physically injured the passenger. Documents suggest the company failed to properly supervise him or ensure he was obeying all traffic laws before letting him drive a taxicab. Moore claimed she suffered deep emotional distress because her enjoyment of life vanished after this traumatic event took place.

Court documents viewed by the Daily Mail did not specify exactly where on Las Vegas grounds Moore stood when struck, nor did they offer further details about Solowiej or any consequences he faced for his actions. YCS Checker LLC Operations Series was formed in Nevada on April 22, 2021, according to official state records available for review. Its parent company, Taxi Management LLC, also runs other cab services throughout the Vegas area today. The Daily Mail has reached out to both entities for comment regarding this disturbing incident and the subsequent legal verdict that protected the tourist from further harm caused by corporate negligence.
