Kim Kardashian Preparing for Esophagus Surgery After Doctor Warns of Inflammation

Oct 31, 2026 •Entertainment

Kim Kardashian is preparing for surgery to remove irregularities from her esophagus. She broke the news on Thursday’s episode of *The Kardashians*. The 46-year-old reality star admitted she had been feeling sluggish. She initially blamed the fatigue on a packed schedule.

"My throat is like killing me today," she confessed in a private interview segment. "I’ve been feeling a little off lately." Early in the broadcast, a physician warned her about potential esophagitis. The doctor pointed to visible inflammation in her esophagus. Kardashian acknowledged the weight of the situation. "I’ve seen a couple of doctors, and it’s been heavy on my mind lately," she said.

The medical team recommended a round of medication first. Then, they scheduled a procedure to inspect the issue more closely. This step would help determine if further action was necessary. Kardashian kept the diagnosis close to her chest for a reason. She told the camera that she hadn't shared the news with many people.

"I think it’s, you know, something that really hits home for me," she explained. "I just don’t really want to go there with my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer." Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer in 2003. The connection is impossible to ignore.

In a preview for next week’s episode, Kardashian stated the grim reality. "The doctor says my esophagus has these irregularities and I have to have them cut out," she said. "That’s the same thing my dad had." The teaser clip showed her in a hospital gown, wearing a surgical cap, with her mother Kris Jenner standing by her side.

Kardashian first mentioned the diagnosis in the season eight trailer a month ago. While getting her makeup done, she told a producer, "I have something called esophagitis." The producer asked if that was what her father died of. She confirmed it was.
