Kentucky Little League Star Dies Suddenly at Age Six
A six-year-old boy from Kentucky passed away suddenly while sleeping on October 1 without any known cause. Neven Akai Coofer was described by those who knew him as a devoted and passionate player for Little League baseball. He had been playing the sport since he turned four years old, which built a strong connection to the Lexington community and helped him make friends from many different backgrounds.

Aaron Anderkin serves as the Vice President of the Southeastern Cal Ripken Baseball League where Neven competed. He stated that the league is doing everything possible to support the grieving family during this tragedy. You really embrace the idea that it's about way more than baseball, and we're trying to do everything we can to come together and wrap our arms around them, and just let them know how loved Neven was and how supported they are. The board of directors also set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses, medical bills, and other unexpected financial needs that arise during such a difficult time.

The fundraising page has already collected more than $25,000 in just four days. People from the wider Lexington community rallied around the family by sending money and offering their heartfelt support. Neven's older brother Niko also plays for the Southeastern League team and received encouragement from fans while playing his games. The parents, Dominik and Gordana Coofer, expressed deep gratitude for this outpouring of love. The support here is something I think my husband and I will never ever forget, said Gordana Coofer.

Dominik described his son as a person who brought light into every room in a Facebook post. He gave me the light and energy I need to get up every day. Neven was my snuggle buddy; he was my dude who had a different spot in my heart that will forever be empty. An obituary honoring Neven was created online where users can send flowers for his burial site. The tribute notes that he brought an incredible amount of love, laughter, and happiness into the world during his six beautiful years.
