Kate Shares Nostalgic Photo of Prince Louis in Halloween Raincoat

Oct 31, 2026 •Entertainment

Prince Louis, now eight years old, starred in a nostalgic Halloween post from his mother, the Princess of Wales. Kate shared a photo on Saturday morning showing the young prince at just one year old. He wears a blue raincoat and tiny red boots in the image. His attention is completely fixed on a large pumpkin. He smiles broadly as he bends down to inspect it. The caption was simple: 'Happy Halloween!'

Kate took the picture herself. It highlights the family's deep connection to nature. The Waleses are known for keeping their children's lives relatively normal despite their royal status. They usually celebrate October 31 in private. This marks the first time the couple has publicly marked the holiday. Fans have reacted with delight to the charming snapshot.

The family has a history of engaging with Halloween traditions, though often discreetly. In 2022, doorbell camera footage captured Kate holding bags for George, Charlotte, and Louis while they waited at a door. The children were dressed in sweet costumes. William and Catherine, both 44, are understood to embrace the festivities. They try to shield their kids from the intense public limelight as much as possible.

Louis has had a busy year in the spotlight. He celebrated his eighth birthday with a trip to Cornwall with his parents and siblings. Over the summer, he attended the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He wore a Welsh bucket hat and watched cycling at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. His energy was palpable. He bit his nails, gasped, and pointed from the stands. He sat between his siblings, fully engaged.

His mischievous personality resonates with audiences worldwide. That same cheeky grin appeared during the Games. It echoed his memorable performance at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. His antics stole the show then, just as his animated reactions did in Glasgow.

Earlier this week, Kate visited Dose of Nature, a mental health charity in Kew, south-west London. The organization uses clinical psychology and nature to improve wellbeing. Kate toured their Richmond-based site, Pensford Field, to conclude a weekly 'Art in Nature' session. She spoke with Tom, a former participant who now volunteers as a Nature Guide. Tom shared how being outside boosted his self-confidence and resilience.

Kate praised the healing power of the outdoors. "Our journey has been very very different, but it's so wonderful to hear how your nature connection and how it's been so healing for you, and I felt the same," she told Tom. She highlighted the sense of purpose and belonging the program provides. "The fact that you're able to provide that to so many other people in this community; that sense of purpose and meaning, and belonging, through that experience."

She noted the lasting impact of such connections. "I think it is something that has got the longevity and the sustainability of feeling like, almost without knowing what's to come, without having the control in your life of knowing what the future might hold." Kate emphasized the importance of feeling capable. "The fact that you feel that you can cope with things, because you feel that interconnection, I think that makes it holistic in a very true essence.
