Kylie Minogue's alleged stalker has been formally charged after police say he bombarded her family with texts and gifts while claiming they were in love.

John Skyllas, 66, faces two counts of stalking. He is scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court in November.

Documents reviewed by the Herald Sun show Skyllas sent a large number of messages to the singer's parents, Ronald and Carol, and her brother, Brendan, over just a few months.

In those messages, Skyllas allegedly wrote, "We're still together," and told Kylie's father that he and the pop star were "in love."

The texts were sent between February and March.

Brendan received four parcels containing gifts and small trinkets. Court documents state that Skyllas's details appeared as the sender on these packages.

Skyllas, from Blackburn South, is also accused of loitering near the family's post office.

He allegedly asked neighbors about Kylie and her family while telling them he was her partner.

He even claimed to know the specific make of cars driven by the family.

In April, police allege Skyllas went to Brendan's workplace. He took photographs from the street and told people his car had broken down.

Victoria Police obtained personal safety intervention orders to protect the Minogue family.

"The family is concerned with the behaviour," an officer said in documents filed with the Magistrates' Court.

"Police have concerns due to the apparent fixation and increasing contact being made," the officer continued.

They believe a safety order is necessary to ensure boundaries are in place.

Under the orders, Skyllas cannot stalk, harass, threaten, or assault the family.

He is forbidden from coming within five metres of Kylie's parents and brother.

He also cannot try to find them or communicate with them.

This is not the first time Minogue faced an alleged stalker.

In 2019, a man lurked near her London home. Kylie had to call British police.

The man, in his 40s, went from house to house asking where she lived.

He rang her doorbell and refused to leave her West London home.

"It came to a head when the man repeatedly pressed the intercom button to her home for hours on end last week and refused to leave," a nearby resident said at the time.

Another resident noted, "A weirdo guy was lurking around. He went door to door asking people where Kylie lived."

The man kept saying "Kylie" again and again, leaving the singer terrified.

He was not arrested or charged. Officers instead issued him a formal harassment warning.
