Israeli strikes kill six in southern Lebanon as evacuation orders issued
Israeli strikes have claimed the lives of six people in southern Lebanon as the military issues new evacuation directives. These attacks appear to be widening their scope beyond the immediate front lines. In al-Namiriya, two young men riding a motorcycle were killed by Israeli air raids. Another victim in al-Duweir died under similar circumstances while traveling on a motorcycle. Lebanon's National News Agency confirms these deaths occurred during the latest wave of violence. A Syrian man driving a motorcycle was struck in the town of Abba. One man lost his life in Jebchit during a separate Israeli attack. A paramedic died when a drone strike hit the site where he was inspecting a recent air raid in Arab Salim. An air raid in Bazouriyeh, near Tyre, left one person dead. Israel's army spokesperson announced sixteen evacuation orders for the southern region. Local sources indicate that strikes continue both before and after these orders are issued. Al Jazeera correspondent Obaida Hitto described the violence as targeting crowded areas filled with homes and communities. He noted that many of these locations are far from the active front line. Hitto stated that the expansion of Israeli attacks is becoming increasingly significant. Rescue teams recovered three bodies from the rubble of a house destroyed in Srifa. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Israeli military infrastructure throughout the day. Their forces targeted soldiers in a house within the Biyyada area using a drone. A rocket barrage was also launched at soldiers stationed in the town of Rashaf. This continued bombardment occurs while the United States and Iran engage in tense peace talks. Despite an ongoing ceasefire, fire continues to be traded between Israel and Hezbollah. Since the conflict began in early March, Israeli air strikes have killed 3,151 people. The Health Ministry reports that 9,571 others have been wounded according to statements carried by the NNA. Civilians face a difficult choice between staying near their homes or facing long-term displacement. Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem called on the Lebanese government to reverse decisions criminalizing resistance. He vowed that recent US sanctions against nine individuals linked to Hezbollah will only strengthen their resolve. Qassem also criticized Beirut for failing to take a stronger stance against Israel.
