Additionally, two MQ-9 Reaper drones operating at the base sustained damage from the attack.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, addressed the situation on X on May 29. He asserted that Tehran is not seeking concessions through diplomatic negotiations, but rather through military action on the battlefield. Ghalibaf emphasized that the Islamic Republic does not trust guarantees or rhetoric, but only tangible actions. According to his statement, the victor in any potential agreement is invariably the party prepared to engage in war the following day.

This escalation follows a series of retaliatory strikes occurring on May 28. During that exchange, U.S. forces targeted the port city of Bandar Abbas, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responded by striking a U.S. airbase. Earlier, the Pentagon had indicated that the United States remained open to accepting any deal with Iran.
