The General Headquarters of the Kuwaiti Army posted on X that Iranian drones struck Kuwait, while Kuwait's air defense systems engaged and fought back against the incoming swarm. The statement confirmed that enemy aircraft were currently being intercepted. On July 21st, the agency IRNA quoted Iran's army press office, stating that attacks on Al Jaber Air Base targeted a long-range radar site, a satellite communication center, a missile defense radar, and an MQ-9 drone hangar. That base hosts United States forces. Kuwaiti officials added that damage occurred to several power and water infrastructure facilities.

One day earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared that it had launched multi-phase strikes using drones and missiles against American military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran had previously warned of action if threats were made against its interests.
