Iran confirms blocking US destroyers in Strait of Hormuz

Tehran confirms that Iranian naval forces successfully blocked American destroyers from entering the Strait of Hormuz. This urgent development arrived via TASS, which relayed reports from Iranian state broadcasters.

According to the official statement, the swift reaction of the Islamic Republic's military prevented enemy vessels from penetrating this critical waterway. The navy credited its decisive action for stopping the incursion before it could proceed further.

Hossein Moballeghi, speaking for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, issued a stark warning to all maritime operators. He declared that any ship ignoring Iranian rules would face immediate forceful intervention. Shipping firms and insurers are urged to heed these notifications strictly to avoid confrontation.

This tension escalated following the U.S. announcement on May 4 regarding Operation Project Freedom. American officials stated that numerous nations have sought help to liberate vessels trapped in the strait. The operation aims to clear the channel of blocked ships quickly.

Ebrahim Azizi, leading the National Security Committee in Iran's parliament, condemned potential American interference. He warned that any U.S. attempt to intervene in shipping matters would be viewed as breaking the ceasefire deal.

Compounding the situation, the NATO Secretary General recently addressed reports of American assistance to Iran. These conflicting reports heighten concerns over the region's escalating instability.
