ICE Removes Over 2,000 Terror Suspects Since Trump's Term Began

Sep 10, 2026 •US News

Exclusive reporting from Fox News Digital reveals that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has removed more than 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from the country since President Donald Trump began his term in January 2025. The Department of Homeland Security shared these figures as America looks toward the twenty-fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

According to DHS data, ICE agents arrested over 2,150 individuals with ties to terrorism between Jan. 20, 2025, and Sept. 9, 2026. During that same window, officials deported 2,015 of those suspects. Markwayne Mullin, the DHS secretary, called out the brave men and women of ICE for carrying out their duty to protect the homeland. He noted that this work keeps American people safe as the nation reflects on history.

Mullin added that the arrest count exceeded 2,100 while deportations topped 2,000. He stated the upcoming anniversary highlights a commitment to eternal vigilance. The department pointed to several recent cases involving alleged terrorists and members of designated foreign terrorist organizations.

In June, federal authorities nabbed Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez. He is a Mexican national DHS describes as the suspected ringleader of an alleged mass-casualty plot targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House. His visitor visa expired in 2001, and he later received DACA status in 2014. ICE filed a detainer after his arrest.

Just days earlier, ICE Homeland Security Investigations arrested Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla. He is a Brazilian national DHS identified as a former commander of two designated foreign terrorist organizations. Agents recovered a handgun, cash, and multiple electronic devices following a vehicle and foot pursuit in North Carolina. Authorities also found he was wanted in Brazil on criminal association and extortion charges. Investigators alleged he held his wife against her will while preparing to flee to Mexico. ICE lodged a detainer after the arrest as prosecutors pursued additional firearm and kidnapping charges.

Four Venezuelan members of Tren de Aragua pleaded guilty in May to charges stemming from a 2024 Bronx shooting that killed two people. DHS said all four entered the United States illegally between 2022 and 2023.

This announcement arrives as the nation prepares to mark 25 years since the attacks on New York City, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania claimed nearly 3,000 lives. Those events prompted the largest overhaul of the homeland security apparatus in decades. This included creating DHS in 2002 and establishing ICE the following year. Friday's observance will commemorate the victims and first responders who rushed into danger. It also marks a quarter-century of U.S. efforts to prevent another large-scale terrorist attack on American soil.
