High School Secretary Arrested on Child Seduction Charges After Alleged Relationships with Two Students; Husband Involvement in Altercation
Alicia Hughes, 31, a high school secretary in Union City, Indiana, has been arrested and charged with five counts of child seduction after an investigation revealed an alleged sexual relationship with two students. The accusations stem from an incident that unfolded on Friday night, when Hughes' husband allegedly discovered her in a compromising situation with an 18-year-old student from Randolph Eastern School Corporation. According to Union City police, the husband confronted the pair, leading to an altercation during which he allegedly battered Hughes. The incident has sparked an ongoing investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff's Department into the alleged battery.

The probe expanded when authorities uncovered evidence of a separate relationship between Hughes and a 17-year-old student. Police stated that the pair had engaged in sexual activity at least five times. While Indiana's age of consent is 16, the law permits criminal charges against adults who have sexual relationships with minors under 18 if the adult holds a position of authority over the minor. Hughes' role as a school secretary places her in such a position, intensifying the gravity of the allegations.

Authorities arrested Hughes on Saturday and transported her to Randolph County Jail, where she is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Union City police emphasized that their investigation remains active, urging the public to provide any additional information. The Randolph Eastern School Corporation (RESC) has cooperated fully with the inquiry, according to a police statement.
