Hasan Piker Mocks Injured Federal Agents at Minneapolis Event With Rep. Ilhan Omar

Oct 28, 2026 •Politics

Monday night in Minneapolis turned into a firestorm. Far-left streamer Hasan Piker took the stage with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and mocked federal agents. Specifically, he targeted officers injured during Operation Metro Surge. The crowd laughed. Piker did not.

Recalling his time in Minnesota during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, Piker made a jarring claim. He suggested agents must be "extra racist" to work in frigid winter temperatures. Then he mocked a specific officer who was hurt. "We saw a lot of funny compilations as well, you know," Piker told his host. "A lot of hip bones were broken. 'Officer Martinez down.'"

The host was Omar Fateh. A Democratic socialist and failed Minneapolis mayoral candidate, she ran the sold-out event. Piker has become a polarizing figure in the party. Some Democrats embrace him. Others reject him outright. He previously claimed "America deserved 9/11." Accusations of antisemitism have also followed his remarks on Israel and Hamas.

Omar herself is facing intense scrutiny. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents searched her Washington, D.C., home earlier this month. A federal court filing identified her as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, aka Ilhan Abdullahi Omar." This legal detail adds fuel to the controversy surrounding her recent activities.

Backlash from Minnesota Democrats was swift. Rep. Angie Craig and Sen. Amy Klobuchar publicly condemned Piker. Other local Democrats demanded the event be canceled. Voters are heading to the polls next week for midterm elections. Despite the pressure, Omar’s campaign defended her decision to attend. They said she went to mobilize young voters.

Piker also praised the "solidarity" and "mutual aid" seen after thousands of ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents deployed to Minnesota. Protests erupted. Multiple arrests occurred. Objects and fireworks flew at law enforcement. A church service was disrupted. Two U.S. citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were killed during interactions with federal officers.

"It wasn’t just the networks that were very quickly propped up," Piker said, citing the mutual aid he witnessed. "The protests that sparked up that said, ‘We’re not going to take it. We’re not going to sit aside and watch this administration come and rip our communities apart and kidnap our neighbors.'"

The rhetoric on stage grew sharper. Piker called Republicans "terrorists." Omar labeled the party the "pedophile protection party."

Conservatives on social media reacted instantly. Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of the Charlie Kirk Show, posted on X. "Hasan Piker was asked what stuck with him from Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis: ‘Funny compilations’ of federal agents being injured," Kolvet wrote. "He also called the agents ‘extra racist.’ This isn’t comedy. It’s tacit support for the far-left insurrection network against federal law enforcement. Pro-revolution. Pro-anarchy."

Kolvet added, "Every Democrat he campaigned with should be asked if they agree. Disgusting."

Loomer Unleashed posted simply, "Hasan and his elected Democrats are sick."

Crucible Updates highlighted the impact on young audiences. "Hasan watched federal agents get hurt and his takeaway was 'funny compilations… a lot of hip bones were broken,'" the account wrote. "Millions of young women take their politics from this guy. Let that sink in."

Gina Milan, a conservative media personality, posted two words: "WTF?!" Another user called Piker "America’s biggest cancer." The access to these specific remarks remains limited to those present or watching the live stream, but the fallout is now public and immediate.

Another nepo baby," Kevin Smith, host of Loud Majority Live, declared on X. The accusation lands in the middle of a heated dispute over federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson pushed back hard against that narrative. In a statement to Fox News Digital, they labeled the "vilification" of ICE agents as a direct driver of violence. These officers put their lives on the line daily to enforce the law. Yet, they face a staggering more than 1,600% increase in assaults.

"They should be thanking our law enforcement for removing these dangerous criminals from Minnesota, NOT vilifying law enforcement," the spokesperson wrote. "While these people smear ICE, law enforcement is arresting criminals and saving countless American lives."

The agency clarified its operational protocols, too. ICE agents do not target individuals based on skin color. They take required steps to determine immigration status and removability before making an arrest. The spokesperson urged politicians and activists to turn the temperature down and tone down their rhetoric.

Meanwhile, the political stakes are rising. Omar is running against former state trooper John Nagel and independent candidate DeVelle Jackson in the upcoming midterm elections for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

Fox News Digital reached out to Piker and Omar for comment.
