Georgia Woman Kills Ex-Husband And Girlfriend In Rage-Fueled Shooting

Oct 22, 2026 •Crime

A 76-year-old Georgia woman allegedly flew into a jealous rage and stormed into a trailer home before shooting dead her ex-husband and his girlfriend. The victim was only 35 years younger than him in this horrifying double murder. Grace Edge is accused of bursting into the property in rural Toombs County on Monday afternoon. She opened fire without warning, killing Wallace Truman Edge, who was 75, and Pamela Cook, who was 40. The bloodshed unfolded right in front of Cook's terrified mother, Diane Cook. That woman watched her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend being gunned down before frantically calling 911. Prosecutors allege Edge also turned her weapon on the horrified mother. She shot Diane in the arm before fleeing the scene. The shocking attack allegedly came after Edge struggled to accept that her former husband had moved on with a considerably younger woman. They divorced more than a decade earlier. Investigators believe resentment over the relationship may have fueled the deadly confrontation, although a definitive motive has not been established yet.

Toombs County Sheriff Jordan Kight told WTOC that Grace Edge had begun dating Pamela, and information we have indicates Grace did not accept this situation. The terrifying end of what authorities call a rampage was captured on a 911 call from Diane Cook. She described how the woman with the gun entered the home and immediately started firing.

'She just come in start shooting,' Cook told the emergency dispatcher. When asked if there had been an argument before Grace pulled the trigger, Cook insisted there was no confrontation at all. 'No she come in just shooting,' she replied to the operator. The chilling exchange meant the victims likely had no warning before violence erupted inside that home on McNatt Falls Road in Uvalda, a small spot in southeastern Georgia.

Deputies arrived around 2:30pm on Monday after the call came in. By then Wallace Edge and Pamela Cook were already dead. Authorities say the suspected shooter fired five shots during the attack. Four rounds hit Wallace Edge and his girlfriend, while a fifth struck Diane Cook in the arm. Instead of running away, Grace Edge allegedly drove straight to the Toombs County Sheriff's Office and surrendered herself.

'We believe she had drove straight from the residence where this happened and drove straight here to the sheriff's office,' Kight said. He noted that Grace and Wallace had been divorced for over ten years, though investigators received reports they kept an on-again, off-again relationship together. The sheriff stressed those reports were not independently confirmed yet. Local law enforcement knew their history well before this tragedy struck. Before they split, deputies reportedly responded to the couple's home at least a dozen times over domestic disputes and other issues. Both women had contacted authorities to make complaints about one another previously. None of those earlier incidents led to an arrest.

The killings have stunned residents of Toombs County. The sheriff described it as a quiet, close-knit community unaccustomed to such shocking violence. 'When something like this happens it is a shock and awe type feel to our community,' Kight said. Grace Edge now faces seven criminal charges regarding the deadly incident, including two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and three counts of aggravated assault. She is being held at the Toombs County Detention Center while awaiting her first court appearance. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation into these events.
