Georgia Man Arrested After Obsession With Hot Tub Rubber Duck

Georgia authorities are hunting for a man they claim was obsessed with a rubber duck found inside a stranger's hot tub. The Chatham County Police Department says this suspect trespassed onto private property and walked off with expensive towels before fleeing the scene entirely. Their statement notes that while the crime might not be the most serious case filed recently, it carries a significant ick-factor for everyone involved. They want this person located quickly to prevent similar incidents elsewhere.

Surveillance video from the residence on Whitefield Avenue captures events between 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on September 1. Footage shows the individual swimming in the pool before moving into the hot tub. There, he spent more than ten minutes intensely interacting with the toy. Police wrote that the man became infatuated with the duck while sitting in the water. A grainy black-and-white still from the security camera appears to show him holding the rubber duck near his face, though officials did not specify exactly what acts occurred.

The suspect then departed the home riding a bicycle. As he left, he grabbed several luxury beach towels from the premises. These six towels were worth $200 each for a total value of $1,200. Video evidence shows them stashed in a basket underneath his bike when he was spotted leaving.
