Gaza Ceasefire Crumbles as Fresh Israeli Strikes Kill Four Palestinians

Nov 5, 2026 •World News

The so-called ceasefire in Gaza is crumbling under the weight of relentless violence. Four Palestinians, including a child, lost their lives in fresh Israeli strikes across central and southern Gaza on Thursday, according to medical personnel. This latest bloodshed underscores a grim reality: the truce signed in October 2025 has barely held.

In Deir el-Balah, the horror began at dawn. Abdul Rahim Walid Matar, 27, was killed when an Israeli drone launched two missiles at a tent housing displaced families west of az-Zawayda. Staff at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed the death. The attack was not an isolated incident. Medical sources reported that another drone strike in Az-zawaya claimed a second life.

Further south, the violence continued. Nasser Medical Complex reported a woman killed and two others wounded by Israeli fire outside zones currently under military control in Khan Younis. In Bureij refugee camp, a child died after being hit by Israeli gunfire. Ashraf Amra, reporting from Deir el-Balah for Al Jazeera, described the scene with stark clarity.

"Israeli forces on the edges of the area that directly overlooks al-Mawasi are firing heavily towards the tents of displaced people," Amra stated. He noted that a man sitting inside his tent was critically wounded and rushed to surgery at Nasser. The child in Bureij was killed instantly by direct fire on homes and tents in eastern Bureij.

The strikes did not stop there. A drone hit a gathering of residents in the al-Baraka area of Deir el-Balah, leaving several injured, one of them in critical condition. In the north, a source at al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera that a Palestinian was wounded when a drone struck an apartment in al-Karama, northwest of Gaza City. Artillery shells pounded eastern Gaza City heavily, while naval vessels opened fire toward the coastline.

Near the Hosni al-Musaddar Mosque east of Maghazi camp, military vehicles engaged in heavy firing. A drone dropped a bomb nearby, though no injuries were reported in that specific instance. Residents east of Khan Younis described two powerful explosions as the army demolished homes and civilian infrastructure within the areas it controls.

Amra added that Israeli forces are advancing on the eastern edges of al-Musaddar and Deir el-Balah. They are bulldozing homes and farmland, absorbing more territory behind the so-called "Yellow Line." This physical expansion mirrors the statistical toll.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported three Palestinians killed and 21 wounded in the previous 24 hours as of Wednesday. One of those three had succumbed to earlier wounds. The broader picture is devastating. Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, the ministry counts 1,602 Palestinians killed and 5,794 wounded.

When you look at the total count since October 2023, the numbers are staggering. 74,618 killed. 175,920 wounded.

The Government Media Office in Gaza provided a breakdown of the truce violations. As of Monday, Israel had committed 5,989 violations since the truce began. Of those, 753 occurred in October alone. That month saw 346 shootings, 310 bombardments, and 64 home demolitions. The data suggests a pattern of systematic aggression rather than sporadic incidents.
