A four-year-old boy died after struggling in a hotel pool during a family vacation in Myrtle Beach. Lauchlin McMann was pronounced dead on Monday following an incident at North Beach Plantation on April 21. The family had traveled from their home in Palmyra, Maine.

Security footage reviewed by police shows Lauchlin flailing in the water at 7:53 p.m., surrounded by other children. He sank before an employee pulled him from the pool approximately four minutes later. North Myrtle Beach Police arrived shortly after a bystander began performing CPR. Emergency services transported him to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he passed away.

The investigation into the drowning is ongoing. Lauchlin is remembered by his family as a bright spirit with a loving nature. He leaves behind his parents, Ashley and Justin, and his siblings, Parker, 8, and Hudson, 7.

Dawn McMann, Lauchlin's grandmother, wrote on a GoFundMe page that a joyful time together turned into a heartbreaking tragedy. She described the accident as terrible and said the boy's passing is unimaginable for the family struggling to come to terms with the loss. The fundraiser raised more than $44,500 by Thursday evening. Lauchlin was airlifted to a children's hospital in South Carolina to be surrounded by family and grandparents who flew in from Maine.
