Former Teacher Jacques Leveugle Detained in France Over Alleged Rapes of 100 Minors Across Decades in Multiple Countries
In a shocking revelation that has sent shockwaves across multiple countries, Jacques Leveugle, a 79-year-old former teacher, has been detained in France after allegedly raping nearly 100 minors and murdering two family members over decades. The suspect, charged in 2024 for aggravated rape and sexual assault, is now in custody following an investigation that uncovered a chilling record of his crimes.
Prosecutor Etienne Manteaux addressed reporters in Grenoble, urging the public to come forward with information. The crimes, spanning from 1967 to 2022, allegedly took place in Germany, Switzerland, Morocco, Niger, Algeria, the Philippines, India, Colombia, and New Caledonia. Leveugle worked as a freelance teacher and instructor in these regions, moving freely across borders while leaving a trail of devastation.
The scale of the alleged offenses was uncovered through a USB drive discovered by his nephew. The device contained 15 volumes of writings detailing 'sexual relations' with minors aged 13 to 17. Manteaux confirmed that the documents, compiled by Leveugle himself, were found during an inquiry into his 'emotional and sexual life.'

The prosecutor revealed that the suspect had confessed to 'intentionally causing the deaths of two people' in his memoirs. During the investigation, Leveugle admitted to suffocating his terminally ill mother with a pillow in the 1970s. He also allegedly killed his 92-year-old aunt in the 1990s by suffocating her while she slept, after she begged him not to leave for a trip to the Cévennes.
Manteaux emphasized the urgency of identifying the suspect, stating, 'This name must be known because the objective is to allow possible victims to come forward.' The public appeal includes portraits of Leveugle taken over decades, highlighting his ability to evade justice for years. Authorities are now seeking witnesses and potential victims to help piece together the full extent of his crimes.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Grenoble Gendarmerie Research Section immediately. The case has reignited global concern over the exploitation of vulnerable minors and the challenges of tracking serial offenders across international borders. With new details emerging daily, the investigation continues at full speed.
