Flydubai co-pilot charged with stabbing captain during terror attempt
United Arab Emirates prosecutors have charged a Flydubai co-pilot with trying to execute a terrorist act on a recent flight. The prosecutor general, Hamad Saif al-Shamsi, told state news agency WAM that the man stabbed the captain inside the cockpit using a crash axe. This violent incident occurred earlier this week during Wednesday's flight FZ1073.
The alleged attacker reportedly tried to seize control of the aircraft's flight controls while the plane was in the air. Al Shamsi stated on Saturday that authorities are now investigating every angle of this disturbing event. They want to find out exactly what happened and why it took place. Officials are also looking for any links to broader networks or motives behind such an attack.
Technical experts are currently examining both physical wreckage and digital data from the flight recorder. Investigators say they will release their final findings once all necessary procedures finish up. A crash axe is a standard safety tool kept in every cockpit so pilots can cut through parts of the fuselage if needed during an emergency landing or fire situation.
