Florida Homeowner Fires on Teen After Doorbell Ditching, Parents Demand Arrest
Chaos erupted in the Shenandoah area of Davie, Florida, just past 11 p.m. on Halloween night, when a homeowner opened fire on a group of teenagers. The target? A 16-year-old boy who had kicked a neighbor's door and fled in a classic "doorbell ditching" stunt. Now, the victim’s parents are demanding police arrest the shooter.
The teen, whose name remains withheld by authorities, was struck twice in the arm. He was rushed to a local hospital and underwent major surgery earlier this week. Doctors had to open up his entire arm to repair the damage. His mother, visibly shaken, is asking one burning question: if the police know exactly who did this, why is no one in handcuffs?

"They need to find this guy, and they know who they are," she told NBC6 South Florida. "They know. So why he's not being arrested?"
Her stepfather paints a picture of reckless endangerment. He insists the homeowner wasn't protecting his home or family. Instead, he claims the man chased the kids down the street and popped off two rounds. To the stepdad, this was pure irresponsibility.
"To come out with a gun and start shooting on Halloween night, with all kinds of kids all over the place, to just start opening fire [and] pop off two rounds," he said. "How irresponsible is that?"

He believes the homeowner should have called 911 and filed a report. That is the protocol, after all. Instead, bullets flew.
Davie Police confirmed to the Daily Mail on Tuesday morning that an active investigation is underway. They declined to release further details. The suspect has not been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made. However, officers did confirm the teen is in stable condition.

Witnesses reported a heavy police presence in the 14300 block of Southwest 20th Street shortly after the incident. Crime scene tape cordoned off the area as investigators worked the scene.
The family has retained legal counsel. The attorney learned that Davie police forwarded the case file to the Broward State Attorney's office. That office will now decide if criminal charges are warranted. The Daily Mail reached out to the Broward State Attorney's Office for comment.
