A Florida Republican congressman has become the center of a national controversy after making a social media post that has drawn fierce criticism from across the political spectrum. His rhetoric intensified further in July 2025, when he responded to Representative Ilhan Omar's criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by saying, 'I'm sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists.'

The latest incident occurred during a Capitol Hill hearing in December 2025, when Fine stated that he was unafraid to be labeled Islamophobic and claimed that Muslims 'who seek your destruction' should be 'destroyed first.'
